Its common Natural flowers do differ when compared with artificial flowers. They need to be cared for and maintained if it is to be kept for long time as it is. You can use soda as a freshener when it is added to the water where flowers are kept; Hair spray also can give a quick fresh look to your flower;  2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons sugar can also added with the water to make them pleasant and make sure that the water should be changed every day;  if you add a copper penny and spoon of sugar to the vase water like old method, it can prevent the bacterial growth and keeps the flowers fresh.
